Mays Business School offers specialization courses in accounting, consulting, e-commerce, finance, human resources management, information technology and operations, marketing and real estate. You also have the ability to create your own custom-designed specialization, allowing you to select the elective business courses you believe you need for career advancement.

Accounting

The Accounting specialization may include studies of international accounting, auditing, corporate taxation, accounting information systems, and real estate taxation. This specialization prepares you for a career as a financial consultant, auditor, controller, treasurer, accounting information systems manager, or corporate accounting manager.


Consulting & Strategic Management

The Consulting and Strategic Management specialization may include studies of corporate-level and business-level strategies, ethical issues and standards, strategy formulation, market forces, global and international issues, political and legal forces, cultural forces, financial resources, human resources, and consulting skills. This prepares you for a career as a management consultant, strategic planner, information systems consultant, general manager, entrepreneur, organization development manager, or general manger/top-level executive.


E-Commerce

The E-Commerce specialization may include studies internet marketing, marketing research, enterprise resource planning, and information systems and supply chain management. This prepares you for an internet-related marketing career.


Finance

The Finance specialization may include studies of financial strategies and tactics, ethical issues and standards, corporate finance, financial statement analysis, investment decisions, credit and equity markets, international finance, risks and returns, costs of capital, financial controls, innovation and entrepreneurship. This course of study prepares you for a career as a financial analyst, corporate finance manager, investor relations manager, financial consultant, general manager/top-level executive or entrepreneur.


Human Resource Management

The Human Resources Management Specialization may include studies of compensation management, organizational staffing, organizational behavior, organizational change and development, employment regulation, organizational staffing and collective bargaining in industry. This prepares you for a career as a human resource manager, compensation and benefits manager, training and development manager, mediator, diversity manager, or industrial relations manager.


Information Technology and Operations

The Information Technology and Operations specialization may include studies of information strategies and tactics, ethical issues and standards, computer-based information systems, systems analysis and designs, information management software packages, decision support systems, experts systems, information technology, and MIS project management. This prepares you for a career as a systems consultant, information systems manager, multi-media manager, systems designer, project manager, reengineering consultant, or general manager/top-level executive.


Marketing

The Marketing specialization may include studies of marketing strategies and tactics, ethical issues and standards, services marketing, consumer behavior, multinational marketing, product innovation, marketing research methods, market planning, marketing communications, promotion decisions and pricing decisions. This prepares you for a career as a brand manager, account manager, sales manager, retail manager, distribution manager, service quality manager, or general manager/top-level executive.


Real Estate

The Real Estate specialization may include studies of real estate development, real property finance and valuation, analysis of real estate investment decisions, and analysis of money and capital markets. This prepares you for a career as an asset manager, property manager, risk manager, entrepreneur, mortgage lending manager, or real estate consultant.


Custom-Designed Specialization

You may elect to take courses from a variety of fields to create a custom-designed specialization to prepare for your individual career goals. This custom-designed specialization allows you to select the courses you need to strategically position yourself for your career search.
