Lt. Cmdr. Mark Marchione, U.S. Coast Guard Mays MBA Class of 2000
Having an MBA from Texas A&M has not only benefited my career within the military; when I retire, I know that I will be well prepared when I reenter the workforce whether in the public or private sectors.
LCDR Mark Marchione, USCG,graduated from Florida State University in 1987 with a bachelor's, and worked in retail management in the private sector for three and a half years. In 1991, he entered the U.S. Coast Guard, and upon completion of Officer Candidate School was assigned to Coast Guard Marine Safety Office (MSO) Hampton Roads in Norfolk, Va., for nearly four years. In 1999, he was selected for the Coast Guard Financial Management Graduate School Program and attended Texas A&M University, earning an MBA in 2000.
Following the Mays MBA Program, Mark was assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters, where he served for two years. In 2002 he was assigned toMSO New Orleans (later renamed to Sector New Orleans). His operational specialty is Marine Safety, and the Coast Guard has given him the opportunity to pursue two distinct career paths—marine safety and financial management. In July 2006, he transfered to Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma, Calif., where he will be the base comptroller (chief financial officer).
